FDU Knights Athletics

Career: Ranked second at FDU in doubles (49), third in home runs (28) and seventh in hits (197). 2019 recipient of the George Braun Alumni Leadership Award, 2019 FDYS Male Iron Knight Award and Baseball Team Knight Award...2019 NEC Student-Athlete of the Year

2019: NEC Student-Athlete of the Year...All-NEC First Team Catcher..NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year...In his final go-around in the Burgundy and Blue, batted .319 with 10 home runs, 37 RBI and a team-high 39 runs scored. McDonald’s .548 slugging percentage was fifth-best in the NEC, while his home-run total ranked sixth.

2018: McDonald led the Knights in virtually all offensive categories in 2018. The junior catcher  recorded 46 hits and a.289 batting average to go along with 30 runs scored, nine home runs, 30 RBI, three triples and a .566 slugging percentage, which were all team highs. In addition he ranked second on the team with 11 doubles and stole a pair of bases, while starting all 47 games.

2017: Served as the Knights' primary catcher starting 41 games in which he played..Ranked eighth in the NEC in batting average at .333 and fifth in slugging at .541..His seven home runs were tied for fifth most in the conference..Recorded 53 hits in his 159 at bats with 12 doubles, 34 RBI and 24 runs scored.

2016: Appeared in 50 games, making 39 starts. Batted .281 with two home runs, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored. Also added 13 doubles on the season, which tied for second on the team.

Prior to FDU: Was a four year varsity player for his coach Jeremy Grimm…He also played one year of varsity basketball…Was named first team All-League twice, first team All-District twice, and was All-District player of the year…Also, he participated in the All-Mizuno game and was defensive player of the game…Was an honor roll student and National Honor Society member and will major in psychology at FDU.
