NORWICH, Conn., -FDU baseball (24-30) fell to #1 LIU (35-18) 10-2 on Thursday at Dodd Stadium. With the loss, FDU moves to the contender's bracket and will take on the loser of #2 Bryant and #3 CCSU Friday, May 27, at 12 p.m. in an elimination game live on NEC Front Row.
How it happened
- FDU opened the scoring with a two-out RBI single up the middle by Brelon Harden, allowing Justin Sierra to score.
- LIU responded with four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead 4-1.
- The Sharks extended their lead to 8-1 in the bottom of the sixth after scoring a two-RBI single and a two-run homer.
- Joan Sosa scored a run in the top of the sixth on an RBI single to right field by Tom Ruscitti.
- LIU added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to make the final score 10-2.
- FDU finished the game with 10 hits, two runs, and two errors.
Inside the box
- Nick Evangelista (2-3) took the loss with four earned runs and one strikeout.
- Sosa went 2-5 with a run.
- TJ Werner finished 1-2 with a double and two walks.
- Hunter D'Amato registered a stolen base.
The Knights will play tomorrow, May 27 at 12 p.m. live on NEC Front Row in an elimination match with the loser of the BRY/CCSU game.
