Softball Finishes Season With Series Win Over Stonehill

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU softball wrapped up their 2026 regular season with a three-game set against Stonehill on Saturday and Sunday. The Knights took two out of three from the visiting Skyhawks.

GAME ONE

FDU started the weekend off by celebrating Senior Day on Saturday afternoon. The Knights honored seniors Ayden Stone and Sophia Ayala in a pre-game ceremony before a Saturday doubleheader. FDU started off inspired on Senior Day, scoring five runs in the first inning to take an immediate lead. Stone got the scoring started with an RBI single, and Zoe Milonopoulos capped the inning with a two-run home run, the first of her career. In the circle, Jamie Sencion held things down for the Knights, allowing just three runs in a complete game effort. Stone would drive in two runs on an RBI single in the fifth, before Kailee O'Sullivan hit an RBI single to put the Knights up 11-3 and end the game due to the run rule.

GAME TWO

The Knights kept things rolling in game two of the doubleheader. Sophia Ayala started the scoring with an RBI groundout, tying the game at one in the second inning. Amanda Jupinka gave the Knights the lead with an RBI single in the third. FDU would score three more runs in the sixth inning to build a 5-1 lead for starter MaryJane Limon. Limon was stellar in the Saturday start, twirling a complete game. Limon gave up just one run and five hits in the effort. Despite the doubleheader sweep, FDU was eliminated from postseason contention on Saturday after Le Moyne defeated CCSU in Syracuse, N.Y.

GAME THREE

The Knights wrapped up their season on Sunday afternoon. Stonehill's bats woke up for the first time during the capstone, as the Skyhawks exploded for a seven-run third inning to break a 1-1 tie. Stonehill added four more runs in the fourth to take a 12-1 lead. FDU was unable to get the offense working against Stonehill's Lauren Donovan, who gave up just four hits and one run across five innings of work.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Knights finish the 2026 season with a 20-32 record, and a 11-13 record in NEC play. FDU finishes the season in fifth place in the NEC. Head coach Chris Foye and the Knights will now turn their attention to the 2027 campaign.
