NEW YORK, N.Y. - The FDU Knights (15-27, 10-13) fall to the Columbia Lions (24-14, 15-3) by a score of 9-8 in the tenth inning.
The Lions got on the board first in inning one with a grand slam to score four runs taking an early 4-0 lead.
Columbia followed it up in the third inning with another homerun to extend their lead to 5-0.
The Knights got the bats going and were able to capitalize on walks to result in an eight run fourth inning. Columbia walked in four runs for the Knights with bases loaded. FDU saw opportunity with two singles from
Hunter D'Amato and
Joey DiMotta to drive in three more runs in the inning along with a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Ben Avila to secure the last run of the inning for the Knights. This inning gave FDU an 8-5 lead.
Columbia tied it up in the fifth inning with three runs of their own bringing the score to 8-8.
Ultimately the game went to extra innings where the Knights fell to the Lions due to a walk-off double scoring the winning run resulting in a 9-8 loss for FDU.
The pitching rotation today consisted of
Nicholas Feretic who started the game and the staff behind him was
Dante Edwardi,
Cole Vida,
Nate Dudeck,
Joey Kosowsky,
Brian Yadlon,
Ben Pika,
Ian Barrett and
Vladimir Ceverino. The staff totaled seven strikeouts and only issued four walks on the day.
The Knights managed to pick up five hits and nine walks in today's game.
Brian Sanders,
Joan Sosa,
Franklin Gomez Jr., D'Amato and DiMotta all recorded one hit each.
