Softball Welcomes Central Connecticut Saturday; Visits Sacred Heart Sunday

HACKENSACK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson softball team returns to the diamond this weekend with a pair of Northeast Conference doubleheaders after sweeping a doubleheader from Saint Peter's on Tuesday afternoon.

The Knights will welcome the Central Connecticut Blue Devils on Saturday to FDU Softball Field before making the trip up to Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon for a twin bill against the Pioneers.

Fairleigh Dickinson comes into the weekend at 9-24 overall and 2-2 in NEC play. Central Connecticut sports a 14-18-1 overall mark and is 3-1 in NEC play. Sacred Heart will at Wagner on Saturday before hosting the Knights. Currently, the Pioneers sit at 11-27-2 on the season, 2-6 in NEC play and are coming off a loss and a tie against Yale in their last two contests.

SERIES SCORE
The Knights are 10-18 all-time against the Blue Devils. The Blue Devils have won eight meetings between the two schools, including a meeting in of the last two NEC Tournaments. Fairleigh Dickinson's last win over Central came back in 2012. Sacred Heart owns a 17-13 record over Fairleigh Dickinson all-time. However, the Knights have won the last four meetings and five of the last six dating back to the 2013 campaign. Fairleigh Dickinson swept Sacred Heart back in 2014 up at the home of the Pioneers.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Central Connecticut --- The Blue Devils are coming off a midweek doubleheader split with UMass Lowell on Tuesday. Kaitlin Paterson leads the team in average with a .346 clip through 33 games so far. Evie Rentzel is close behind at .309 and three other Blue Devils are between .290 and .300. Seven players have driven in at least 10 runs this season for Central Connecticut, led by Alexis Debrosse's 16 --- Paterson's has scored the most (19 times). Emily Sargent leads the pitching staff in wins (9), ERA (2.91), innings (125) and strikeouts (80). Alex Casanas has logged 95.1 innings for the Blue Devils as well.

Sacred Heart --- Lauren Delgadillo leads the Pioneers in average (.280) and RBI (14) and tied for the team lead with two round-trippers this season and runs (15). Delgadillo is second on the team in slugging percentage at .379. Victoria D'Addario is second on the team in RBI with 10 and is hitting .246/.280/.331 this season. Jamie Carlson has logged the most innings for the Pioneers at 103. She owns a 4-12 record and a 2.85 ERA. Emily Orosco sports a 5-4 mark and a team-leading 2.11 ERA over 83 innings.

RUN PRODUCING
Reanna Cervantes (Upland, Calif./Upland) has knocked in eight runs over her last three games. The freshman had three RBI against both LIU Brooklyn and in game one versus Saint Peter's. Cervantes drove in two more in game two versus the Peacocks. She leads the team with 24, which is tied for eighth-most in a single season in program history.

Madelaine Wilen (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) has been getting on base and been getting knocked in by Cervantes. Wilen has scored at least once in five of the last seven games; including twice at Stony Brook and in game one versus Saint Peter's on Tuesday.

GETTING ON….
Five different Knights have a current streak of three or more games of reaching base safely. For the season, four Knights have reached base in at least 10 straight; Madelaine Wilen (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) (15), Madison Lerma (Escondido, Calif./Escondido) (12), Kellie Natham (Arcadia, Calif./Maranatha) (11) and Francine Villalobos (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley) (10).

THIEVES
Fairleigh Dickinson is 16th in the country in stolen bases per game at 2.12. The Knights have 70 steals in their first 33 games this season -- including 11 in the doubleheader against Saint Peter's on Tuesday. Both per game and total steals lead the NEC currently. Madelaine Wilen (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) leads the team with 22; the senior is tied for 22nd in Division I.
