Women's Volleyball Defeats Visiting Saint Francis PA, 3-2

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's volleyball team defeated visiting Saint Francis PA in five games on Friday evening. The Knights improve to 8-23 overall, with a 5-10 record in Northeast Conference play, while the Red Flash fall to 7-23, including a 3-10 mark in league action.

The Red Flash jumped out to a quick lead, taking the first set, 25-16. The Knights responded winning the next two (27-25, 25-15). Saint Francis bounced back to win the fourth set, 25-21, but FDU captured the fifth set, 15-12 to capture the match.

Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) led four Knights in double-digit figure kills, notching 17. Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) added 15 kills, Sarah Berkland (Newton, MA/Newton North) recorded 11 and Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) chipped in 10. Sarah Willey (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) recorded 45 assists, while Kelsey Semler (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) had a team-high 15 digs. Meaghan Wheeler (Chatsworth, CA/Chaminade College Prep) had 14 digs. Meghan Alger (Cheltenham, MD/Bishop McNamara) and Violeta Slabakova (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) each had four blocks.

The Knights are back in action when they host Robert Morris on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Senior Ali Philbrick (/Elizabeth Seton) will be honored in a ceremony prior to the match.
