Baseball Falls to Lehigh

TEANECK, N.J. -The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team dropped an afternoon matchup against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks 15-7 at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex Tuesday.  

How it happened  

  • The Knights opened the scoring with four runs in the first inning to extend the lead 4-0. TJ Werner scored on an RBI single by Hunter D'Amato, while David Bordieri Jr. doubled to center field, allowing D'Amato and Joan Sosa to score, and Bordieri scored on a double to left field by Tommy Verga.   
  • Lehigh got a run back from a sacrifice fly at the top of the second.  
  • FDU tacked two more runs in the bottom of the second. Werner and George Rosales scored on an error by Lehigh's Riley Devis to make it 6-1.  
  • After two scoreless innings, the Mountain Hawks responded with a run and a grand slam to tie 6-6.  
  • The Mountain Hawks took the lead in the top of the six after an RBI double to right field and a two-run homer, making it 9-6.  
  • In the bottom of the seventh, FDU cut the deficit to two on an RBI single from Bordieri, allowing Justin Sierra to score.  
  • Lehigh extended the lead 13-7 after a two-run single to left-center and a double to left side, driving in two runs.  
  • Lehigh added two more runs in the last inning to make the final score 15-7.  

Inside the box   

  • Jude Baxt got the start on the hill for FDU, giving up a walk and one unearned run with no strikeouts in three innings pitched.   
  • Joshua Milleville earned the loss, giving up three hits and three unearned runs over one inning to move his record to 0-1 on the year.  
  • Bordieri went 2-for-5 with three RBIs, one run, and a double.  
  • Tom Ruscitti and Sierra each recorded a stolen base. 
Next up
The Knights return to action tomorrow, March 16, as they host the Siena Saints for a 3:00 p.m. showdown at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex.
