TEANECK, N.J. - FDU (1-3) defeated Saint Peter's (0-1) 12-3 in their home opener at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. The Knights were led by senior
Joey Kosowsky on the mound who earned the win and went five innings giving up only two runs on 3 hits. A strong offensive performance backed up the excellent pitching with seven players having multiple hits on the day.
How it Happened:
- Sophomore Joan Sosa opened the scoring for FDU in the 3rd inning with a sacrifice fly driving in Junior Justin Sierra
- Senior Tom Ruscitti continued the offense with a single and was driven home by Sophomore TJ Werner's single to left field giving FDU a 2-0 lead
- After Saint Peter's cut into the lead in the top of the 5th, sophomore Tommy Verga responded in the bottom half with a 2-run home run making the score 5-2
- Sierra would continue his offensive performance with an RBI single to ensure a 7-2 lead after 5 innings
- The Burgundy and Blue would tack on two more runs in the 6th inning after junior David Bordieri Jr. singled in Ruscitti and George Rosales
- Heading into the bottom of the 8th inning with a 10-2 lead, freshman Edward Novoa picked up his first collegiate RBIs with with a first-pitch single up the middle driving in Sierra and Devin Pelletier
- Saint Peter's would add a run in the top of the 9th making the final score 12-3
Inside the Box Score:
- The Knights used four pitchers to shut down the Peacocks, as freshman Joshua Milleville relieved Kosowsky and went two scoreless innings
- Freshman Gavin Price earned his first collegiate outs pitching the 9th inning
- Sierra finished 3-5 from the plate with two runs and an RBI
