TEANECK, N.J. -- Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis head coach
Jonathan Buchman will welcome four additions to the roster in 2013-14, the leader of the program announced Monday.
Mariya Krachok, Shreya Pasricha, Gisela Castany and
Ksenija Tihomirova will look to help the Knights win three straight Northeast Conference titles and make three consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament.
"With only two returning players from last year, this is really a brand new team,” Buchman said. “I am confident we have put together a group of student-athletes with the potential to succeed both on and off the court, and my expectation is that they will work hard, come together and win."
Coach Buchman on
Mariya Krachok (Kiev, Ukraine/South Alabama):
"Mariya comes to FDU with some college tennis experience having played at the University of South Alabama. I expect she will make an immediate impact for us and that her talent will develop further at FDU. I am looking forward to working with her."
Coach Buchman on
Shreya Pasricha (India):
"Shreya is an excellent tennis player and student. She embodies all that a coach looks for in the recruiting process, and I am excited not only for our tennis program, but for our university, as well, that she has chosen to come to FDU.
Coach Buchman on
Gisela Castany (Barcelona, Spain/Oklahoma Christian University):
"Gisela has had some college tennis experience at Oklahoma Christian University, where she played toward the top of its lineup. I expect she will be a very good player for us and a leader on this team. I am looking forward to having her here."
Coach Buchman on
Ksenija Tihomirova (Riga, Latvia):
"Ksenija is a talented player who possesses great groundstrokes and powerful play. I expect that she will improve with more match experience and be a major point-gatherer for this team."
