WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- The No. 2 seed Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team had no trouble in its Northeast Conference Tournament quarterfinal match, defeating No. 7 seed Sacred Heart, 4-0, Friday afternoon at the Mercer County Tennis Center. With the victory, the Knights improve to 7-7 on the season, while the Pioneers end the year with an overall record of 6-13.

Clinching the doubles' point for the Knights was senior Yuri Gricheno (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Amorim) and freshman Julien Philippe (Paris, France/Saint Honoré d’Eylau), who won at No. 3 over Brian Power and Justin Pagan, 8-3.

In singles, FDU won three matches to take the victory and advance to Saturday's semifinal round. Sophomore Arvis Berzins (Adazi, Latvia/Riga Language School) cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 over James Barnhart, while senior Ibrahim Shams (Cairo, Egypt/Manor House) was unchallenged at No. 2 in his 6-1, 6-0 victory against Pagan.
