SOMERSET, N.J. --Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis player Celine Maier (Nuremberg, Germany /Bertolt-Brecht-Schule Nuremberg) was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Month, announced by the league on Thursday.

The freshman won the first two matches of the spring season to run her 2012-13 singles win streak to nine, before falling later on to UMass and Cornell.  Maier, a No. 3 flight competitor who hails from Nuremberg, Germany, outlasted Rutgers' Mariam Zein in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 10-4, and beat Army's Margaret Iliev, 6-3, 6-1. Her singles record now stands at 9-4 in her freshman campaign.
