Results

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team kept Saturday's match against No. 65 Princeton close in the beginning before falling by a 7-0 final in Jadwin Gym. The loss drops FDU to 4-3 as the Tigers improve to 4-3.

“For the most part, we had a very good day against an excellent Princeton team that is very well coached,” Head Coach Jonathan Buchman said. “We were close to capturing the doubles point and battled hard in each singles match. This is something for us to learn from and build upon.”

In doubles, FDU's No. 1 pairing of senior Ibrahim Shams (Cairo, Egypt/Manor House) and freshman Arvis Berzins (Adazi, Latvia/Riga Language School) were in it all the way until the end against Matija Pecotic and Matt Spindler until the Tigers' top duo came away with the 8-7(5) victory.

The Knights also made things interesting at No. 3 doubles where senior Yuri Gricheno (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Amorim) and freshman Markus Sjoberg (Tyreso, Sweden/Varmdo Gymnasium) dropped an 8-6 decision to Zack McCourt and Michael Lin.

In singles play, Princeton was straight-set winners in all six matches to pick up the win.

Tomorrow, the Knights will take on Saint Peter's in Jersey City, N.J. at 2 p.m.
