TEANECK, N.J. -- Wins in all six of the singles matches to go with the doubles point helped the Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis team sweep Monmouth, 7-0, in their first dual match and home debut as Head Coach Jonathan Buchman pick up his first collegiate win.

“It's always nice to get your first win, particularly when half of your players are new players,” Buchman said. “To win a conference match at home the way we did is exactly what we were looking to achieve today.”

FDU (1-0, 1-0 NEC) was dominant in doubles as senior Anna Rapoport (Moscow, Russia/#1239 ) and sophomore Dina Guzairova (Sochi, Russia/Chelyabinsk #8 ) cruised to an 8-1 win over Monmouth's (1-3, 0-2 NEC) top pairing of Nicole Lippens and Brooke Verdigloine at No. 1. The Knights were victorious by the same 8-1 margin at No. 2 doubles with senior Egzona Morina (Prishtina, Kosovo/American School of Kosovo) and freshman Celine Maier (Nuremberg, Germany /Bertolt-Brecht-Schule Nuremberg) beating Ashley Sandler and Dana Ferrari.

At No. 3 doubles, FDU's pairing of freshman Nicole Chis (Highland Park, N.J./Highland Park) and junior Manuela Leme (Varginha, Brazil/E.E. Antania Alves Cruz) had no problem with Sarah Turner and Liz D'Arcy, winning 8-0 as the Knights took a 1-0 edge heading into singles.

The home side was able to keep the momentum going, winning all six singles matches in straight sets. Maier (No. 4), Chis (No. 5) and Leme (No. 6) all won their singles matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

The Knights also made quick work of their opponents in their top three singles matches. Rapoport was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Lippens at No. 1, while Guzairova beat Verdigloine, 6-2, 6-0 in No. 2 singles and Morina took down Sandler, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3.

Next on the schedule for FDU is the USTA Invitational in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. Oct. 6-8.
