Day Two Results
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team ended its second day at the Farnsworth/Princeton Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore
Arvis Berzins (Adazi, Latvia/Riga Language School) will play in tomorrow's consolation final after defeating Bucknell's Nick Bybel, 6-3, 6-0, in the semifinals.
In the consolation round, senior
Mark Hemy (Suffolk, England/Ipswich School) defeated Binghamton's Alexander Maisin, 6-3, 1-6, 1-0(10) to earn a spot in the consolation finals. Hemy finished as the runner-up of the bracket, however, as he fell to Austin Kaplan from UPenn by a score of 6-2, 6-1 in the final.
After winning their first match in the round of 16 on Friday, sophomore
Julien Philippe (Paris, France/Saint Honoré d’Eylau) and senior
Peter Skvarka (Banska Bystrica, Slovakia/Gymnazium J.G. Tajovskeho) could not get by Boston College's Kyle Childree and Matt Wagner, falling 8-6 in the quarterfinals of doubles play.
Skvarka also dropped a singles match to Yale's Matt Saiontz, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
Next weekend, the Knights will head to Flushing Meadows, N.Y. for the USTA Invitational beginning Friday, Sept. 21.
