Tennis Teams Receive NEC Championship Rings

TEANECK, N.J. -- Following a banner year where the Fairleigh Dickinson men's and women's tennis teams won the Northeast Conference Championships, both teams received their championship rings on Friday.

The men's squad captured its 11th NEC championship with a 4-0 win over Monmouth in the finals on April 22. FDU went 15-9 overall and played Virginia in the team's fourth NCAA tournament appearance in program history.

FDU's women's team, which finished 16-8 during the 2011-12 season, beat Quinnipiac by a 4-2 final in the NEC championship match. The Knights won their third NEC crown and went to the NCAA tournament for the first time last spring.

Both teams will be recognized with a formal presentation during halftime of a basketball game this winter.

The men open their spring season on Feb. 8 against Fordham, while the women's side kicks off the spring on Feb. 9 at Binghamton.
