Nicole Chis Earns Women's Tennis NEC Rookie and Player of the Month

SOMERSET, N.J. -- Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis freshman Nicole Chis (Highland Park, N.J./Highland Park) added another award to her growing resume by picking up Northeast Conference Rookie and Player of the Month for October, announced Wednesday by the conference office.

Chis is now a two-time NEC Rookie of the Month honoree after winning the award in September.  She went undefeated in both singles and doubles action at the USTA Invitational in early October.  Chis won the Flight I singles title, highlighted by a 6-3, 6-3 win in the finals over Ksenia Mikhaylova of St. John's.  It marked her second individual championship of the 2012-13 season after winning the Stony Brook Classic in mid-September.

Chis also teamed up with Manuela Leme (Varginha, Brazil/E.E. Antania Alves Cruz) to claim the Flight 4 doubles crown, beating Seton Hall's Julia Keenan and Madison Shoemaker, 8-6, in the finals.  For the month, she posted 6-0 records in both singles and doubles to improve her year-to-date records to 12-1 and 6-2, respectively.

The Knights will not play again until Feb. 9 when they travel to Binghamton, N.Y. to face Binghamton.
