W. Bowling Looks to Defend Title at Kutztown Invitational

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's bowling team will travel to Reading, PA for the fourth-annual Kutztown Invitational, Jan. 27-29.  The tournament will feature 28 teams and will be held at Hiester Lanes.  For the third year running, the KU Invitational is the largest NCAA Bowling tournament in the nation.

The competition will be stiff as 28 teams from as far as Texas, Wisconsin, and Florida compete for the KU Invitational title during the three day event. Sixteen of the nation's top-20 ranked teams along with all 10 Northeast Conference members will be present. The NEC displayed its bowling dominance in last year's event with five NEC teams finishing in the top ten, with the Knights capturing first place with a 13-2 record.

In addition to host, Kutztown University, competing teams for 2012 KU Invitational are Adelphi, Bethune-Cookman College, Cheyney University, Coppin State College, Delaware State University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, Howard University, Long Island University, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Medaille College, Monmouth University, Morgan State University, New Jersey City, Penn State-Altoona, North Carolina Central University, Norfolk State University, Sacred Heart University, St. Francis (PA) College, St. Francis (NY) University, Stephen F. Austin, St. Peter's College, Texas Southern, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Competition on Friday will begin at 11:00 am with six quad-Baker matches.  The Knights will face Vanderbilt, Saint Peter's College, Norfolk State, University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Valparaiso and Saint Francis PA.

On Saturday, the Knights will take on Texas Southern, Wisconsin-White Water, Delaware State, Stephen F. Austin, Florida A & M, and Hampton University in traditional team games.

Sunday's competition will include best-of-seven Baker matches in a bracket format.

Led by anchor and five-time NEC Bowler of the Week, Danielle McEwan (Stony Point, NY/Stony Point), the Knights are fresh off a tournament championship at the St. Francis NY New Years Knock Down.  They will be looking to add their fourth tournament crown of the season.
