McEwan Earns Fifth Bowler of the Week Award

Fairleigh Dickinson University women's bowler, Danielle McEwan (Stony Point, NY/Stony Point), earned her fifth Northeast Conference Bowler of the Week accolade after her performance at the St. Francis College New Years Knock Down.

Just weeks after topping the field at Team USA trials and earned a place on the national team, McEwan and stepped back into the heat of collegiate competition following a seven-week hiatus.  McEwan and the Knights continued the torrid play that landed them the nation's No. 2 ranking.  McEwan spearheaded Fairleigh Dickinson's 10-0 showing at the Terriers' New Year Knockdown by averaging a team-high 21.90 pins per frame bowled.

Heading straight toward her fifth NEC Bowler of the Week award of the season, the right-handed McEwan filled 91.1 percent of her frames throughout the course of the two-day tournament.  FDU's anchor bowler, who left only eight opens over 98 total frames, was locked in throughout both the traditional team play and baker portions of the event.  She threw 73 strikes in 117 attempts for a remarkably-high .624 strike percentage and converted 78.0 percent of her spares.

McEwan reached the 225-pin mark in four of five traditional team games contested by FDU with a 193-pin showing being the lone outlier.  Her 225.8 traditional average topped the entire meet field of 57 bowlers and landed the third-year Knight Tournament MVP honors.
