The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's bowling team went 5-0 in Baker games on Sunday, Jan. 22 to finish 10-0 at the St. Francis College New Years Knock Down in Brooklyn, NY.  The Knights improve to 55-12 on the season.

The Knights took on Northeast Conference opponent, Saint Francis University (PA), in match one.  Scores of 202, 182, 195 and 256 gave FDU a total of 835.  The Red Flash bowled games of 145, 172, 171 and 202 for a total 690.  The Knights advanced to 6-0 on the weekend with the win.

FDU faced the host institution, St. Francis College (NY) in match two.  Scores of 193, 218, 189 and 218 out-scored the Terrier's games of 167, 198, 199 and 203.  The final combined total favored the Knights, 818-767.

In match three, the Knights took on Hampton University.  The Knights once again defeated their opponent in all four games to combine for a higher total and a win.  The Knights recorded games of 216, 232, 187 and 218 for a total of 853.  The Pirates scored 200, 204, 180 and 168 for a total of 752. 

After the break, FDU was pitted against Saint Francis University (PA) again.  Scores of 174, 198, 189 and 200 defeated the Red Flash's scores of 176, 160, 156 and 213.  The final score was 761-705, giving the Knights their fourth win of the day.

The Knights took on host, St. Francis College, again in match five.  With scores of 205, 215, 214 and 212 the Knights combined for a score of 846.  The Terriers scored 667, giving the Knights their fifth win of the day and tenth of the weekend.

The Knights were the only team to go undefeated in the eight-team tournament, enabling them to take their third tournament championship of the season.

FDU also led the standings in total pinfall on both days of competition.  In Saturday's traditional team games, the Knights knocked down 5,138 pins, while they recorded a pin fall of 4,113 during Sunday's competition.

The University of Maryland-Eastern Shore took second place, while Delaware State, New Jersey City University and LIU Brooklyn rounded out the top five, based on pin fall.

Junior Danielle McEwan (Stony Point, NY/Stony Point) recorded the top average of the weekend with a 225.8 through five individual games.  Senior Joely Carrillo (Clifton, NJ/Paramus Catholic) bowled the weekend's highest individual game among all athletes, a 277. 

The Knights travel to Kutztown University next weekend for the Golden Bear Invitational.
