The Fairleigh Dickinson University track and field teams competed at Monmouth this weekend in West Long Branch, NJ. Taryn O'Connor highlighted the individual results, placing seventh in the hammer throw with a launch of 42.45m (139-03), a personal-best and school record.
O'Connor also took second in the shot put with a mark of 12.83m (42-01.25) and captured fifth in the discus with a throw of 34.59m (113-06).
Megan Patterson ran the 1,500-meter in 4:50.18, a personal-best by 12 seconds, to take fifth place. Jasmine Springer had a jump of 4.89m in the long jump to place fifth. Springer also grabbed a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a 10.94m effort. Claudine Williams ran the 200-meter in 26.93 for seventh place.
Hawa Massaquoi took sixth in the triple jump with a 10.75m effort, while Dwanya Freeland threw a mark of 12.31m in the shot put for third place and 33.60m in the discus for eighth place.
The sprint medley relay team of Jessica Greenaway, Williams, Lordess Shabazz and Patterson captured first place with a time of 4:14.16.
On the men's side, Robert Cherkis captured fifth place in the 3K steeplechase after running in a time of 9:52.72. Kimutai Bett had a personal-best time of 4:05.58 in the 1,500-meter for sixth place. In the hammer throw, Nik Berisha threw 46.72m for fifth place and took eighth in the shot put with a 13.79m.
Zacharia Ahmed placed fifth in the shot put event after throwing a mark of 15.20m, and a throw of 40.56m was good for seventh place in the discus event. Michael Telesford placed 10th in the discus with a throw of 38.05m.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the Knights' squad of Raldaine McDonald, Weymour Johnson, Waydell Harris and Darren Campbell took fifth place.
In the spring medley relay, Harris, Frederick Danso, Nico Stabile and Bett ran 3:41.02 for a fifth-place finish.
