Kyle McMinn Named Head Strength and Conditioning Coach/Assistant Athletic Trainer

Kyle McMinn has been named the Head Strength and Condition Coach/Assistant Athletic Trainer, announced by the Fairleigh Dickinson University Athletics Department on Wednesday, July 1. McMinn is responsible for development of strength and fitness programs for all students at the Metropolitan Campus, while also working with the Division I athletes and the Sports Medicine Department, specializing in rehabilitation. 

 

Before joining the staff of FDU, McMinn worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Northeast Conference member Long Island, where he designed and implemented injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation strategies for 14 NCAA Division I teams. He was responsible the daily maintenance of the Athletic Training Room and in his three years with the Blackbirds, he worked with four programs: outdoor track and field, indoor track and field, cross county and women's soccer.

 

In 2008, McMinn created and implemented a strength and conditioning regimen for the women's soccer program and in 2007-08, he assisted in the implementation of a strength and conditioning regimen for the men's and women's track and field programs.

 

At Penn State, McMinn worked with baseball, men's and women's gymnastics, men's soccer, intramurals and track and field in his clinical rotations, as well as working with the rehabilitation clinic.

 

For two years (2005-07), McMinn worked as a private trainer at The Sports Club LA in New York. He is a Certified American Red Cross Professional Rescuer, Certified Athletic Trainer, holds a New York State Athletic Trainer License and is a United States Weightlifting Certified Sports Performance Coach.

 

“Fitness and injury prevention are paramount to the success of any athletic team,” said Director of the Fitness Center Scott Fisher. “Kyle's background makes him uniquely qualified to develop both the conditioning and rehab programs for our student-athletes. He's a great asset to the athletic department and university.”

 

McMinn gradated with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology-athletic training from Pennsylvania State in 2004. He earned his advanced athletic training master's degree in 2009 from Long Island and currently resides in Woodside, NY.
