FDU Men?s Soccer Adds Four More For 2010?Three With Youth National Team Experience

Fairleigh Dickinson University Head Men's Soccer Coach Seth Roland welcomes four additional newcomers for the 2010 season. Nicholas Walker (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Mary's) (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad), Karlis Putans (Riga, Latvia/University of Latvia) (Riga, Latvia), James McPeake (Wellington, New Zealand/Hutt Int'l Boys School) (Wellington, New Zealand), and Jordan Cooper (Wellington, New Zealnd/Scots College) (Wellington, New Zealand) join the previously-released group of 12 for the upcoming season.

"These four student-athletes are a great addition to our program and, along with the other dozen, will provide a strong foundation for the future of FDU soccer," said Roland.

Walker is a 6-2, 170-pound defender who played for the Trinidad and Tobago U-20 and U-23 National Teams. "Nicholas is an extremely athletic defender with a wealth of experience at the national team level for Trinidad and Tobago," said Roland. "We are looking for him to be a real presence in the back for FDU."

Putans, a 6-5, 205-pound defender, played on the Latvia U-19 National Team and has three years of eligibility remaining after transferring from the University of Latvia. "Karlis is a savvy defender who can dominate in the air," said Roland. "He reads the game well from his center back position, and is a threat on set-pieces."

McPeake is a 6-4, 190-pound goalkeeper from Hutt International Boys School. He is a member of the New Zealand U-20 National Team and U-19 National Schoolboys Team. "James is an outstanding young goalkeeper who has the potential to blossom into a top shot-stopper at the Division I level," said Roland.

Cooper is a 6-1, 175-pound forward/midfielder who was the leading scorer and team MVP for his high school, Scots College. In addition, he played for the New Zealand Secondary Schools U-15 National Team. "Jordan is an eager and highly motivated young man," said Roland. "His athleticism will make him a handful for opponents to contend with at both the forward and wide midfield positions."

The four newcomers join Jude Bischoff (Inarajan, Guam/Notre Dame) (Inarajan, Hi, Guam/Notre Dame), Liam Cahill (Whiting, N.J./Manchester Township) (Whiting, NJ/Manchester Township), Manny Calixto (Passaic, N.J./Paramus Catholic) (Passaic, NJ/Paramus Catholic), Jonathan Gonzalez (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield), Kean Lewis (Patlipada Thane West, India/) (Patlipada, Thane West, India/Foreign), Jacob Lissek (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Rock Canyon) (Highlands Ranch, NJ/Rock Canyon), Alfredo Malaret (Caracas, Venezuela/Cumbres De Caracas) (Bradenton, FL/Bradenton Prep), Jeff Monsalve (West New York, NY/Memorial) (West New York, NJ/Memorial), Jake Mulinge (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), Kelvin Preciado (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack), Tyler Wynn (Toms River, NJ/) (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) and Marco Zanfardino (Hillsborough, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep) (Hillsborough, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep).
