Junior Rob Cerabone led the Fairleigh Dickinson University men's golf team, winning the Northeast Conference Championship, held at the par-72, 6,937-yard ChampionsGate Golf Club in ChampionshipGate, FL. The Knights placed sixth with a three-round team score of 925 (308-308-309).
Saint Francis (PA) won the event with a 910 (303-305-302), Sacred Heart's total of 911 (306-300-305) was second, Robert Morris captured third carding a 914 (300-304-310) and Mount St. Mary's was seven strokes behind the Colonials for fourth place (921=306-311-304). Central Connecticut State rounded out the top five teams with a 922 (310-305-307).
Cerabone won the event, carding a 218 (71-75-72) after sitting tied for second through the first two rounds. He now advances to represent the NEC and Fairleigh Dickinson in the NCAA Regionals, held May 20-22.
Keith Downey (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) tied for 19th overall with a three-day total of 232 (77-78-77) and Eduardo Escobar (Manizales, Colombia/San Luis Gonzaga) finished tied for 25th in his rookie campaign with a 235 (78-76-81).
Tom Anthes (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) finished with a 240 (82-79-79) and Andrew Nedzinski (DuBois, PA/DuBois Central Catholic) carded a 250 (83-81-86).
