After the first day of the Northeast Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are being held at Morgan Track on the campus on Mount St. Mary's University, the Fairleigh Dickinson University track and field team sits in ninth place with eight points.
Monmouth has 70.5 points to lead all teams after the first six events. Central Connecticut State (48), Long Island (26.5), St. Francis (N.Y.) (24), Robert Morris (15), Saint Francis (Pa.) (14), Sacred Heart (13), Mount St. Mary's (9), Fairleigh Dickinson (8) and Wagner (6) round out the field.
In the 800-meter run, Ahmed Amarouch was second in his heat with a time of 1:54.90 to place second and qualify for the finals.
Kimutai Bett (Litein, Kenya/Chebisaas Boys) ran the 1500-meter run preliminaries in 4:01.50 to qualify.
In the second flight of the hammer throw, Nik Berisha (Bronx, NY/Mount St. Michael) had a mark of 48.95 meters.
The meet concludes on Sunday, May 2.
