The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's outdoor track and field team is in ninth place after the first day of the Northeast Conference Championships, which are being held at Morgan Track on the campus on Mount St. Mary's University.
Sacred Heart tallied 59 points to lead after six events. Monmouth is in second place with 48 points, followed by Saint Francis (Pa.) (24), Wagner (19), Long Island (19), Robert Morris (18), Mount St. Mary's (14), Quinnipiac (10), Fairleigh Dickinson (8), St. Francis (N.Y.) *8),Central Connecticut St. (5) and Bryant (2).
Claudine Williams placed second in her heat in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.64 to qualify for the finals. Lordess Shabazz won her heat in the 400-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 58.27.
Megan Patterson placed second in Heat 1 of the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.99 to qualify for the finals.
In the 1,000-meter run, Lena Kraus placed ninth (41:15.41). Hawa Massaquoi ran the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.82 to qualify.
Taryn O'Connor was second in her flight with a mark of 13.22m in the shot put event.
The meet concludes on Sunday, May 2.
