The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Metropolitan Championships on Saturday, April 17. The men's team placed fifth with 62 points, while the women's team placed sixth with 68 points.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team ran a season-best 43.42. Zacharia Ahmed (Hightstown, NJ/Hightstown) captured first in the shot put with a mark of 14.76m. Nik Berisha (Bronx, NY/Mount St. Michael) threw 14.08m in the shot put for a second-place finish. Berisha took second in the hammer throw (47.56), a personal best. Ahmed Amarouch took third in the 800-meter, running the event in 1:52.79.
Weymour Johnson (Queens, NY/Springfield Gardens) captured eighth in the 400-meter (50.31) and Darren Campbell (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion College)'s time of 50.59 was good for ninth place in the 400-meter.
Kimutai Bett (Litein, Kenya/Chebisaas Boys) ran the 1,500-meter in 4:05.41 for sixth place and Waydell Harris (Jersey City, NJ/Ferris) ran a season-best 22.80 in the 200-meter for seventh place.
Michael Telesford (Queens, NY/ENY Transit Tech) threw the shot put 12.55 to place seventh and he had a personal best mark of 41.05 to take sixth place in the hammer throw.
On the women's side, Lena Kraus took third place in the 10,000-meter with a time of 40:30.81. Jaclyn Jarmulowicz threw the javelin 31.25 for a second-place finish.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team ran a season-best of 48.72. Megan Patterson captured fifth place in the 800-meter (2:20.76) and Lordess Shabazz grabbed a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter (59.24).
Nickelle Smith's time of 26.19 in the 200-meter was good for seventh place, while Claudine Williams finished eighth in the same event.
The Knights' 4x400-meter relay team of Jessica Greenaway, Shabazz, Christie Taylor and Hawa Massaquoi finished in 4:01.74.
Taryn O'Connor was second in the shot put (12.74), third in the discus with a personal best mark of 38.05 and seventh in the hammer throw (41.86).
