Women's Fencing Defeats NJIT in First NJ Cup Tournament

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's fencing team competed in Princeton, NJ for the inaugural New Jersey Cup Tournament, competing against Stevens, Princeton and NJIT.

The sabre squad defeated Stevens and NJIT, but fell to host Princeton by one bout. Sophia Bischof (Bonn, Germany/Albert Einstein Gymnasium) went 6-2, Heather Morrill (Pawtucket, RI/Bishop Feehan) was 5-3 and Genele Streitz (Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham High School) posted a 3-4 record.

The epee squad defeated NJIT as well, giving the Knights a win against the Highlanders overall.  Annie Kazarjan (Budapest, Hungary/Koecsey Ferenc Gimnazium) went 5-2 to lead the epee squad, while Christine Forsythe (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) was 2-5 and Evgeniya Tyrtova (Omst, Russia/Liceum #66) was 1-6.
