FDU Sweeps NEC Women's Bowling Awards; Litteral Named Bowler of the Week, McEwan Tabbed as Rookie of the Week

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's bowling team swept the Northeast Conference weekly awards as Sara Litteral (Chesterfield, MI/L'anse Creuse North) was honored as the NEC Bowler of the Week, and Danielle McEwan (Stony Point, NY/Stony Point) earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Litteral led the Knights to their second-consecutive tournament title by posting a team-high 20.27 frame average at the Terriers New Year Knockdown. The Tournament MVP accounted for a 209.00 traditional average, the highest of any individual at the event, over five games.  The 5-foot-4 righty bowler exceeded the 200-pin mark in all four of FDU's traditional game victories, including a high of 255 during a 995-802 rout of MEAC member Hampton.  After bowling in the third spot of the Knights' order during the traditional portion of the meet, Litteral moved up to the leadoff position for FDU's five baker matches.  Piloting the Knights to an 8-2 record at a competition that welcomed six nationally-ranked Top 20 teams, Litteral filled 84.0 percent of frames bowled while making good on 47.62 percent of her strike attempts.  Fairleigh Dickinson is home to the last three NEC Player of the Week awards as senior Erica Perez (Carteret, New Jersey/Carteret) won back-to-back honors prior to the holiday break.

McEwan was a major factor in Fairleigh Dickinson's first-place showing over the weekend as well.  The right-handed rookie accounted for a 19.81 frame average that led all NEC freshmen at the meet, which featured six of the conference's eight members.  Starting in all 10 of FDU's matches, eight of which were victories, McEwan posted an .840 filled frames percentage.  During the traditional play portion of the meet, the New York native totaled a 196.20 average that landed her onto the New Year Knockdown All-Tournament Team.  McEwan led the Knights with high games of 236 and 206 in wins over NEC rivals Saint Peter's and Kutztown, respectively.  The three-time NEC Rookie of the Week rolled 48 strikes in 105 chances in helping FDU to its second team title this season.
