The Fairleigh Dickinson University indoor track and field teams participated in their first competition of the new year on Friday, Jan. 8 at the Metropolitan Coaches Invitational in New York, NY.
Ahmed Amorouch (Ruesselsheim, Germany/Max-Planch-Gynasium)'s time of 1:54.87 in the 800-meter qualified him for IC4A's, as the qualifying time was 1:54.90. He finished third in the 800, but first of the collegiate runners.
Reyon John (Buccoo, Trinidad & Tobago/Singnal Hill) placed 10th in the 200-meter dash (22.60), while Raldaine McDonald (Englewood, NJ/Dwight Morrow) was 14th in the same event (22.75).
Darren Campbell (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion College) placed 28th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.86 and Weymour Johnson (Queens, NY/Springfield Gardens) was 24th in the 500-meter dash (1:08.09).
Robert Cherkis ran the 3000-meter event in 9:12.26 for a 14th place finish and Zacharia Ahmed (Hightstown, NJ/Hightstown) placed seventh in the shot put (15.00m).
Lena Kraus placed 11th in the 3000-meter, finishing the event in 11:05.88.
Jasmine Springer had a distance of 10.58 meters in the triple jump to place ninth in the event, while Megan Patterson ran a personal-best time of 5:21.41 in the mile to finish ninth overall.
Taryn O'Connor took seventh in the shot put with a throw of 12.60m and Dwanya Freeland's throw of 14.38 in the weight throw put her in an eighth-place finish.
The Knights are back in action on Friday, Jan. 15 at the Gothem Cup in New York, NY.
