The Fairleigh Dickinson women's fencing team competed at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational, with strong individual showings, including two finalists.
In epee, freshman Christine Forsythe (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) came in fourth place. Sophomore Annie Kazarjan (Budapest, Hungary/Koecsey Ferenc Gimnazium) reached the finals in foil.
There were strong results in sabre as well, as senior Jesica Cavouti (/) placed 27th in a field of over 50 competitors. Freshman Genele Streitz (Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham High School) placed 18th, reaching the semifinals. Sophomore Heather Morrill (Pawtucket, RI/Bishop Feehan) just missed the finals by one touch, finishing 10th.
In foil, sophomore Audrey Prado (Jersey City, NJ/St. Dominic Academy) placed 43rdand Julia Silva (Garfield, NJ/Immaculate Conception High School) took 45th in her first time out.
Sophomore Evgeniya Tyrtova (Omst, Russia/Liceum #66) just missed the semifinals, capturing a 19th place finish.
The Knights are back in action on Jan. 9 in Haverford, PA.
