The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Long Island on Friday evening in Brooklyn, NY. The Knights fall to 2-12-1 this season, with an 0-6-1 record in Northeast Conference play, while the Blackbirds improve to 7-7-1, including a 3-5-1 mark in league action.
In the 29th minute, Kim Bishop put LIU on the board with her third game-winner of the season as she took a pass from Kelly Carter and ran through the defense, netting a shot from the left side into the right side of the goal.
The best opportunity for the Knights to score came in the closing minute when Jennifer Arceneaux (/Ralston Valley) had a free kick from 25 yards out, but her shot to the inside post was grabbed by Jennifer Bannon.
The Blackbirds out-shot the Knights, 10-5, and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Megan MacKellar (/Brookwood) made three saves in goal for the Knights, while Bannon grabbed two saves in between the posts for LIU for the win.
The Knights are back in action at Wagner on Sunday, October 25 at 1:00 p.m.
