The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2009 season at the Fordham University Fiasco in Bronx, NY on Sept. 12. The women's team placed 13th in a 17-team field, while the men's team finished 16th.
Megan Patterson (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) led the Knights, crossing the finish line in 19:41.52 to take 33rd place. Lena Kraus (Darmstadt, germany/Georg-Bueschner-Scholey) placed 43rd with a time of 19:55.98.
Christine Taylor (Bronx, NY/Washington Irivng) recorded a 22:25.85 finish and Alyssa Adler (Fort Lee, NJ/Fort Lee) crossed the line in 24:01.14. Lordess Shabazz (Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) ended the race in 24:17.45 and Claudia Williams rounded out the FDU runners with a time of 25:55.68.
On the men's side, Kimutai Bett (Litein, Kenya/Chebisaas Boys) led the Knights with an 82nd place finish in 29:23.07. Robert Cherkis (East Northport, NY/St. Anthony's) finished 101st with a time of 30:06.67 and Jonathan Chelimo (Kabarnet, Kenya/Western)'s time of 30:09.47 was good for 104th.
