Women's Soccer Shuts Out Rider, 3-0, Sunday

Three second-half goals, coupled with four points courtesy of senior midfielder Jennifer Arceneaux and a game-winner from sophomore forward Rashidah Sherman, provided the Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team its first victory of the season, Sunday, Aug. 30.  The Knights (1-1) ultimately knocked off Rider University (0-2) on a neutral field in Annapolis, MD, 3-0.

Arceneaux connected with Sheman in the 51st minute, who found paydirt from inside the 18-yard box.  Senior forward Katie Hilder set-up Arceneaux less than five minutes later to garner an insurance tally.  Senior defender Emma Howes put the match away in the 82nd minute, as she went right side following a feed from Arceneaux.

Sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Tanzi made her first collegiate start in net and made four saves, en route to notching the shut out.

Sherman, Arceneaux, and Hilder picked-up All-Tournament honors.

FDU makes its 2009 home debut at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.
