Fairleigh Dickinson University men's tennis player Sven Sjoerds claims the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week award, announced by the league on Tuesday.

 

Sjoerds went 1-1 this past weekend in dual matches versus Ivy League foes Brown and Dartmouth.  Playing number three singles in both matches, the freshman defeated Brown's Timmy Klanke, 6-4, 6-2.  However, Sjoerds was defeated by Stephen Greif of Dartmouth, 6-2, 6-3.  He is 8-7 on the season in dual matches.

This is the second time Sjoerds has been named NEC Rookie of the Week.  He was named Rookie of the Week during the fall season.
