Sophomores Lauren Hamilton and Kirsten Shreve were honored by the league this week, as Hamilton earns Akadema/NEC Player of the Week honors and Shreve was named Akadema/NEC Pitcher of the Week.
Hamilton is honored after leading FDU last week, playing in three games and posting a stellar batting average of .455. She scored four runs and pushed three runs across the plate. The catcher also put a double in the books and notched a strong slugging percentage of .545 and an on-base percentage of .500. In the Knights' loss to Brown on Saturday to open competition at the UMBC Retrievers Classic, Hamilton was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. In the first game against Morgan State on Sunday, Hamilton was 2-for-3, scoring twice with a pair of RBIs to help lead FDU to the 9-1 rout over the Bears.
Shreve pitched a two-hitter this weekend as she led the Knights to a 9-1 win against Morgan State on Sunday. She dominated defensively, posting a 0.00 ERA and picking up the win. She pitched a complete game and struck out four, walking two and holding batters to a .091 average. Shreve was also 2-for-3 in the Knights' 6-5 loss to host UMBC on Saturday afternoon at the Retrievers Classic.
